Dr. Zevgolis is an Assistant Professor of geotechnical engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH, Greece).
He holds a PhD and an MSc from Purdue University, USA (School of Civil Engineering) and a Diploma (MEng) in Mining & Metallurgical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Before joining DUTH, he had served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Technical University of Crete. He has worked as a researcher at Purdue University, at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH). His professional experience also includes several years of work as a geotechnical engineer and as a mining engineer.
His research interests lie in the fields of probabilistic and stochastic methods in geotechnical engineering, numerical modeling of geotechnical structures, and mining (& geo-environmental) geotechnics. At DUTH, he annually teaches six geotech courses, he currently supervises one PhD student, and he has supervised or supervises seventeen undergraduate students on their final year's Diploma Thesis.
