Dr. Zevgolis is an Assistant Professor of geotechnical engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH, Greece).
He holds a PhD and an MSc from Purdue University, USA (School of Civil Engineering) and a Diploma (MEng) in Mining & Metallurgical Engineering (with major in geotechnology) from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.
Before joining DUTH, he had served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Technical University of Crete for two years. His professional experience includes several years of work as a geotechnical engineer, as a mining engineer and as a research engineer.
His research interests lie in the fields of probabilistic methods and reliability-based design in geotechnical engineering, numerical modeling of geotechnical structures, and mining geotechnics. At DUTH, he teaches five geotech courses, and he currently supervises one PhD student and more than ten undergraduate students on their final year's Diploma Thesis.
