The purpose of the laboratory according to the founding Presidential
Decree is to serve the educational and research needs inte subject
of study of Paleoraphy, Codicology and Papyrology.
Each one of the above laboratories has the mission, according to
their founding Presidential Decree:
1. of meeting teaching needs at graduate and post-graduate level
in the Department of History and Ethnology, as well as other Departments
in the University of Thrace in the subjects that concern them.
2. of developing programmes for teaching and research for post-graduate
students in the areas of study covered by the Laboratories;
3. of co-operating in every way with all reasearch centres and educational
institytes both Greek and foreign through a spirit of mutuality
and collective work, if the educational purposes coincide, are in
step with and are complementarary with those of the Laboratories;
4. of organising seminars, conferences, congresses, lectures and
issuing articles and publications;
5. of co-operating with the pertinet public srvices, municipal authorities,
communitites and other social and scientific bodies and contibuting
to the study of the country's problems of development;
6. of offering services as laid down by presiential decree 159/1984
(A'53).
