George N. Botzoris is an Associate Professor for the Section of
Transportation of Democritus University of Thrace (Xanthi, Greece), where he has been teaching since 2008.
He served as Director of the Transportation Section from 2020 to 2022 and has been the Director of the Transportation and Spatial Planning Laboratory since 2021.
He has also taught as an Adjacent Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of
Thessaly, (Volos, Greece) (2005-2008).
He holds Diploma of Civil Engineering, M.Sc. in Business Administration and Ph.D. in Transportation.
His research interests include analysis and modeling of travel behavior, transport demand analysis and forecasting, transport economics and feasibility studies, public transport policy and planning, traffic analysis, management and safety, intelligent transport systems, sustainable mobility, and the environmental impacts of transport activities.
He has participated in numerous transport studies, traffic studies, feasibility studies, organization and management studies, airport master plans, and railway track designs.
He is (co-)author of two books, three textbooks, and of six chapters in edited volumes.
To date, he has (co-)authored over 200 scientific papers published in scientific journals as well as conference proceedings.
