Postgraduate Courses
Modeling and Analysis Techniques for Smart Grids
Course outline: Background in the analysis of Power Systems. Smart Grids. Measurement-based modeling and analysis of Smart Grids. Wide-area monitoring systems (WAMS). Software platforms for steady-state and transient analysis of Power Systems. Load flow calculations in transmission and distribution systems (with and without distributed generation). Calculations of short-circuits following the Std. IEC 60909. Sensitivity analysis, investigation of the dynamic performance and small-signal stability of Power Systems with eigenanalysis and simulation of the dynamic responses. System identification techniques for the analysis of Power Systems using measurements (Prony method, Vector Fitting, PEM and ?4SID). Measurement-based dynamic load modeling (ZIP, polynomial and exponential recovery). Visualization of synchrophasor measurements.
